WOODEN PHOTO BLOCK FOR MY DAUGHTER

I adapted a great wooden photo block idea from Pinterest to make this Mothers Day present for my daughter. I have fallen in love with making my own photo blocks, with canvas or wood and can see more of these being made soon - perhaps for my home this time. Mod Podge is definitely my new favourite craft tool.

3 steps:

  1. Paint wooden block desired colour - let dry for at least a day
  2. Print words onto patterned paper
  3. Glue paper, letters, bling and photo onto wooden blocks with Mod Podge...I glue it on to the block then an even coverage all over the top.
Dry overnight or longer.

Happy Mothers Day :)

Welcoming Leah

19 days ago we welcomed our first Grandchild Leah Hope into our family. I was with my daughter for over 24 hrs while she was in labour and then waiting to meet Leah and see Jess after she eventually had an emergency caesarean. It was the most exhausting, scary but exciting day and the last few weeks have been filled with spending time with my daughter and beautiful granddaughter while trying to keep my son happy in the school holidays.
I have made 2 layouts already of Leah....I will photograph them in daylight soon and share them here. During my time off work (2 1/2 weeks and 2 more to go to help Jess) I have been baking new things and sorting my home. Still more sorting to do but going to try to enjoy the next few weeks with some me time and lots of time with my beautiful little Leah.

Christmas Gifts for Family

I found this idea from Pinterest recently and gave it a go for some Christmas gifts for family. I was really happy with the outcome and how EASY it is. I will be using some different girlie colours for my next ones - for my Granddaughter who is due any time now....can't wait for that first photo!!

My son and I made our 2nd gingerbread house  - this year my daughter helped and it is a much better effort :)

Gift for a Friend - and one for Me!

I loved making this cute post-it notepad from a cheap plastic photo frame. I made a trial one for myself first with My Minds Eye papers - which I LOVE. Then I made one for a friends birthday using Bo Bunny Ambrosia papers..
I placed a mini scrapbook page into the section where the photo would go, mounted the post-it notes on card stock then used Mod Podge glue to adhere to the outside of the frame.

Once dry I then decorated the outside of the frame with some flowers, punched butterfly's  some bling and a mini title. I have some more frames to use so will be definitely making more soon. The frames (6x4 portrait) cost less than $5 for a set of 2!!

Good way to use up scraps too.

Love my Kids - Love My Minds Eye! The calico butterfly was a random find at Scrap It Flaunt it recently that I altered with a Prima stamp...........very happy with how it turned out.

I have been working on an album project for 2012 using Simple Stories papers and We R Memory Keepers album pages. I am up to May at the moment but hoping to fast track to be up to August by the end of October - so only 1 month behind. :) This is on top of a busy month and being behind in my Diploma course work so wish my luck! I will post some pics soon of my work so far.

I recently discovered a fab blog http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com.au/ and it has inspired me to de clutter and organise more. So our trip to Ikea on the weekend was very exciting and I am thrilled with how my son's toy storage solution has turned out. Tonight I started on my bathroom.....I just need more time and $$$$

Ikea Photo Frame - something for ME!

I bought some of these frames at Ikea after seeing a great idea in a magazine. I altered mine slightly from the original concept. I wanted to make something I could keep as usually I give away my off the page projects. The gorgeous photo of my girls was my inspiration and the lovely Bo Bunny Ambrosia papers...love those colours!
